Media Center

Policies

Students visit the Media Center every two weeks with their Language Arts teacher.  Most mornings during AIM, students may ask permission to visit the Media Center – 7th graders visit on ODD days; 8th graders visit on EVEN days. In addition, students may visit the Media Center with staff permission during most lunch shifts.

Twenty-five computers are available to students. All usage must be in compliance with the Wayne Township Internet Access Policy.  Students must have teacher permission and supervision to access the internet.

The Media Center offers students over 17,000 items for checkout, including books, magazines, and audiobooks. eBooks are also available for checkout on students’ Chromebooks.  Students may have up to 5 items (not including eBooks) on their accounts, two of which can be magazines.

Throughout the school year, Mrs. Krebs, the school Media Specialist, will be sponsoring book clubs for different groups of students. She will also sponsor a Library Council that will work in the Media Center during AIM, have monthly meetings, and celebrate with a party each semester.
Students may fill out an application at the beginning of the school year to be a part of this Council; it is by invitation only.

Incentives for AR point acquisition are also provided throughout the year.  Students who go above and beyond with reading and taking AR quizzes will be rewarded with an invitation to an AR celebration, held quarterly.

Scholastic Reading Club fliers are available most months through the Media Center. Parents are encouraged to place orders online to earn even more new books for the Media Center. Money and orders are due on a designated date usually at the end of most months. We have two Scholastic book fairs during the school year, one in the fall during student-led conferences and one in the early spring.

Our Media Center participates in the Boxtops & Labels for Education programs. Please return your boxtops and labels to Mrs. Krebs in the Media Center. Our boxtops & labels earnings support book clubs and help us purchase new books.
